inFAMOUS: Second Son sequels could take place in any era or location, says Sucker Punch

The development studio behind inFAMOUS: Second Son has hinted that the super-powered franchise may go down the same road as Assassin’s Creed, in that its sequel(s) could take place in any time period or location.

Speaking with OPM, Sucker Punch’s Nate Fox wasn’t too put off by the notion that the company may be known only for pumping out inFAMOUS games.

“That’s a good curse to be saddled with. inFamous is a really broad concept – an everyday person gets powers and decides if they want to use them for good or evil. That could be anybody of any age, any gender, any time, any country. It’s as wide open as superhero fiction,” said Fox.

Turning his attention to Second Son specifically, he added: “This is Delsin’s story, it’s in a new city with new powers. His journey is the point. Cole’s story was those other games. In the future there could be other inFamous games about completely different characters.”

Quizzed if the series could go down a path similar to Assassin’s Creed, he replied:

“Yeah, that’s a great example. Those games have that feeling. Spiritually, like Bioshock to Bioshock Infinite, there’s not really a lot of overlap in those games but you can tell they’re the same.”

inFAMOUS: Second Son was released last Friday, topping the U.K. All Format Charts in the process and sending PS4 sales through the roof.
